So wedding season is close upon us and invitations for the bridal showers, bachelorette parties and ceremonies begin to hit our mailboxes. You may be in need of some inspiration on what to wear for those events. Well, no worries, we have some options for you at MiUS Collection.
In today’s post we’ll focus on the wedding shower attire. First let’s start with some general rules of thumb when it comes to dressing for a bridal shower. Here’s what you need to know:
- Let the bride-to-be wear white. It’s a subtle way to let her shine on her big day. Personally, I would even steer away from creams and ivory as well. Nude shades and white dresses with colorful prints are fine, but solid whites should be reserved for the star of the show: The Bride!
- Stay away from red. It may seem trite, but red is considered to be a “vulgar” hue associated with adultery. Not exactly appropriate for celebrating your friend’s upcoming nuptials! LOL Red is also a “look-at-me” color. Again, let the bride bask in the spotlight.
- Try not to wear black. This is a completely my personal opinion, but I wouldn’t recommend wearing black to a bridal shower. It reminds me of mourning. Instead, wear a pretty color or print to show optimism for your friend’s new beginnings.
Well that’s it for bridal shower wardrobe etiquette! Now for the fun part… Here are my top picks from MiUS on what to wear to a bridal shower:
Try one of these cute frocks paired with a nice cardigan and heels or pretty flats…

They are in everyone’s hot list…from runways to celebrities, the Peplum style dress is a MUST have for this season!
In last night’s Golden Globe Nominations, one of my favorite style girls, Jessica Alba was wearing one of these great styles:
Fashion Court’s photo post of jessica alba
But it’s not just Jessica Alba! Everyone from Beyonce, Kim Kardashian to Rebecca Beckham are wearing them (I borrowed these pictures from a celebrity fashion blogger, P. Series:
WHY does everyone love it??
This style is super-flattering because it cinches in the waist and flatters the hips giving the illusion of a perfect hourglass figure. This is a style that looks good on most people, and as the peplum itself is a great statement piece it means you only need minimum jewelry and accessories to complete your look.
We have two gorgeous peplum dresses at MiUS Collection:
Curvy size – Peplum
Missy size – Peplum
They are both available in a slimming tailored shape with a pops of color provide a stylish look. Guess what??? It is your lucky day, because you can rock this dress at your next event at a GREAT deal!!! Our Deal of the Day is this fabulous dress for $39.99!!! Available in missy and curvy sizes! This Saturday, December 1, 2012, we had our first MiUS Collection holiday trunk show. It was a very eventful and fun show! Joining us in our show was Andrea Howell, the designer behind Tidal Cool Creations. Tidal Cool Creations is a local Cleveland brand and is available in the MiUS Emerging Designer section.
Photos by Scott Morrison from Discovery Photo
Tidal Cool’s designs are fresh, youthful, and edgy, but still wearable for everyday. The collection includes something for every venture in a woman’s life, from the beach, to the office, to the red carpet.
Andrea has a long history in the sewing room, learning the trade by her grandmother’s side as a little girl. Howell has been creating ever since, and recently launched her own label to cater to the modern woman. Howell draws inspiration in nature and travel, and loves to use bold prints and sharp architectural details. Tidal Cool Creations has walked the runways in Ohio and Michigan, with several new National shows on the schedule for next year.
We are excited to bring Andrea’s work to MiUS Collection! Her work is unique and includes totally custom pieces. You place the order online and we will work with you to get the right fit! Questions or comments… Let us know!
I love Thanksgiving week…not only because it is a short work week for some of us, but it also means we have a little “extra” time to spend with family, we gather around a table to give “Thanks” for all. For me, it means we get to pass our holiday traditions to our younger generations (our kids). What is interesting in our family is that we have two different traditions at our house. My husband is use to a very laid back and casual Thanksgiving. However, I grew up in a family that makes this holiday a very religious and formal event where the fine china comes out, nice wine and all the decor with the table and we all dress up in our “Sunday’s best.” We actually celebrate our Thanksgiving day at my in-law’s house, and we keep a little on the casual-ish’ side. I say “casual-ish” because I still like to insert some of my religious and formal side into the celebration day. So these two traditions have somewhat merged over the years and cause a fashion conundrum in me, and I am always torn between wearing a dress or just jeans and a tee. So in the last few years…I have decided to do a mix…
Here’s my take on the Thanksgiving formal-casual-ish wear…
I love capes and leggings! I think they are comfy and give me such warm cozy feel! I bling-ed them up by adding the sequin sweater. I also LOVE the plaid cape. So I was torn… either way they are fabulous options. You can wear with leggings or skinny jeans.
