how is it going how there in cyber land?  it has been an odd start to our summer here in northern ohio.  during the last week of school i had the air on and was a hot mess outside.  now?  rain, clouds and under 70.  odd.  but i am not complaining…i am not a hot weather fan.

anyway…this summer is going to prove to be very exciting for our family.  we have purchased a property close to the lake for a weekend/summer home with my parents!  not sure about you…but i love seeing a home come togehter…hate the work.  haha.  although since we don’t have to live there maybe this won’t be as bad.  don’t fret…you will see lots of photos and posts with before and after and projects…but for now…let’s dish on what i should wear to a lake party event…

what screams LAKE more than this mint and blue chevron dress?  and how do you pass it up at only $39.99 (remember i like to purchase everything for under $50).

what fun is this dress?  some different colors and different patterns…this would be unique at a lake party.  and again…$39.99

what about a cooler day?  one of my favorite color combinations is orange and navy.  this dress  ($45.95) screams me (except i don’t love to show my arms…but at least my legs are hidden haha!)

i think this would be a cute necklace  ($32.99) with all the dresses.  i tend to keep my accessories small and light when around sand.

What to wear to a wedding: Part 1- the SHOWER

18 Mar

So wedding season is close upon us and invitations for the bridal showers, bachelorette parties and ceremonies begin to hit our mailboxes. You may be in need of some inspiration on what to wear for those events. Well, no worries, we have some options for you at MiUS Collection.

In today’s post we’ll focus on the wedding shower attire. First let’s start with some general rules of thumb when it comes to dressing for a bridal shower. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Let the bride-to-be wear white. It’s a subtle way to let her shine on her big day. Personally, I would even steer away from creams and ivory as well. Nude shades and white dresses with colorful prints are fine, but solid whites should be reserved for the star of the show: The Bride!
  2. Stay away from red. It may seem trite, but red is considered to be a “vulgar” hue associated with adultery. Not exactly appropriate for celebrating your friend’s upcoming nuptials! LOL Red is also a “look-at-me” color. Again, let the bride bask in the spotlight.
  3. Try not to wear black. This is a completely my personal opinion, but I wouldn’t recommend wearing black to a bridal shower. It reminds me of mourning. Instead, wear a pretty color or print to show optimism for your friend’s new beginnings.

Well that’s it for bridal shower wardrobe etiquette! Now for the fun part… Here are my top picks from MiUS on what to wear to a bridal shower:

Try one of these cute frocks paired with a nice cardigan and heels or pretty flats…

What do you think?  Which one is your favorite?

From Work to Play

5 Nov

November is here and that means the holiday season has officially started for most of us.  And…to my delight…in my email inbox this weekend, I found the first invitation to a holiday party/get together. This invitation happens to be for cocktails and dinner on a Wednesday night… and to me, that immediately sparked the thought, a work night… “what to wear?”  Then, I thought maybe others may be facing that same style dilemma. So I decided that throughout the holiday season “From the Buyer’s Desk”   will be providing style options and ideas for holiday parties and get-togethers, or work functions, that will be both fashionable and Made in the USA.

This week’s style board is an outfit option that can effortlessly be transformed from day to night:

This style board features one of my favorite dresses in the collection…I am a magenta (and green) fanatic 😉 During the day you can wear this lovely dress with a cardi or blazer (if you are in colder climates), and for the night you may add a little bling by incorporating the black sequin blazer and transferring your purse essentials to the lovely striped clutch which pulls it all together so well!

So what pieces did I include in this lovely ensemble?
